Bankhaus Carl Spängler, which has its headquarters in Salzburg, is Austria’s oldest private bank for private wealth and family business. In 2018, the bank celebrated its 190th anniversary and initiated a complete brand relaunch. The aim was to refresh the bank’s somewhat out-dated brand image and to stage it in a contemporary manner in order to further consolidate its position. The branding has been simplified and cut back, with both text and imagery revised to create a classic but modern interpretation, with an understated design. The new design grid emphasises safety, trust and experience and is able to be thematically combined and varied.

The idea behind its brand imagery reflects the special fact that the bank’s offices are always located in historically and architecturally significant buildings. The bank’s locations are designed to be houses and create a familiar atmosphere for clients – indeed “familiar” is the brand’s core value. The bank stands for both tradition and the avantgarde, with the blue and gold representing tradition and red for avant garde style. The bank pursues a highly modern and contemporary consulting and investment concept based on a very traditional set of values, in which fairness, trust and active dialogue are at the heart of any external action.
